My students have participated in National Guild Auditions, NHMTA Evaluations, and Royal Conservatory Music Development Exams.
NHMTA Student Evaluations
I encourage all students to participate in evaluations which occur in May in Nashua, NH. Students may be evaluated in four areas: playing pieces, music history, theory and aural skills. Students perform from one to three pieces of music for a qualified adjudicator. Each student’s performance is private and non-competitive. The adjudicator gives written feedback that accentuates the positive and points out areas that need attention. Each student receives a certificate and a written evaluation. Students may also take a simple test about the chosen composer of the year, a theory test and an aural skills test. The cost is $15.00-$20.00 depending on the level and is due in March.
Royal Conservatory Music Development Program
This more rigorous program gives students a specific goal and a measurable level of achievement. The Music Development Program exams take place in May in Concord, NH at the Community Music School.
My students have received first class honors and first class honors with distinction on practical and theory exams from Preparatory through Grade 8. In 2015, two of my students achieved the highest score in NH for their level! The exam grade does not correspond with the student’s age. It entirely depends on the student’s ability and length of study. This program is an excellent choice for students who enjoy or want to explore classical music as well as jazz styles and desire a national standard of musical achievement. I am a RCM Certified Teacher.
