“ I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Hubbard as my piano teacher from the beginning—all the way from first grade until I graduated high school—and I could not have asked for a better teacher. In my lessons with her, I have been able to try a variety of playing styles from classical to blues to improv, and I believe being exposed to so many different genres has expanded my abilities as a musician. In addition, because Mrs. Hubbard incorporated music theory into my lessons from the very beginning, I can anticipate college theory classes being fairly easy. 🙂
I think my favorite thing about having Mrs. Hubbard as my piano teacher was that she wanted me to cover a lot of styles and composers, rather than master two or three pieces in a year. My last three years or so of lessons, she let me decide a lot of what I wanted to play, and helped me play it to the best of my ability. She made suggestions about recital and exam pieces, but the final decision was always mine, and I really appreciated the freedom she gave me to explore. Thanks to lessons with Mrs. Hubbard, playing the piano is something I love and can’t imagine life without.

“Our daughter has taken piano lessons from Janice Hubbard for ten years. Janice has been able to provide individualized lessons, satisfying specific interests, while being careful to provide strong, well-rounded instruction in technique, theory, composition, and even improvisation. In teaching, challenging, and correcting, she always remains patient, kind, and approachable. I cannot recommend Janice highly enough.”

“When I asked how the piano student performance went, they [the residents] had a lot to say! They said they really enjoyed the music and had not heard such beautiful music in a long time! They also talked about how polite the students were and asked me if they would come back!”
